From Friday 13th December 2013, Pop Up Screens will be hosting a series of special Christmas films at the lovely 20th Century Theatre on Westbourne Grove. This will be a great opportunity to get you right into the spirit of Christmas in the run-up to the big day itself!
After the first screening on 13th December – The Muppets Christmas Carol at 8.30pm – twenty-one additional films will be shown at screenings that will take place three times a day, at 1pm, 5.30pm and 8.30pm. There will be a very wide variety of films, with something for everyone and of all ages – classics such as Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Elf, Lovely Actually, Polar Express, Miracle on 34th Street and more.
There will also be an on-site bar selling all the usual snack and drink treats, plus the tempting winter warmers of mulled wine and decadent hot chocolate. The venue will open an hour before each screening, so you’ll have plenty of time to buy your treats and get yourself cosily settled before the “projector whirrs into action”! The venue itself will be a true winter wonderland, which you’ll access through a mystery door disguised as a wardrobe, completing the magical feel.
Dave, the founder of Pop Up Screens, describes what they’re trying to do with their Christmas pop up:
Christmas needs to be exciting and fun and magical so we put all those emotions into a blender, sprinkled in what we learnt from last year and have come up with a bigger and better and more snow filled cinema experience than ever. It’s genuinely exciting for us to put this on, so hopefully when you venture through the wardrobe into the cinema you’ll be transported into a different world that shaves 15 years off your age so you can shamelessly play in the snow too.
Pop Up Screens Christmas follows last winter’s ‘Cinema in the Snow’, and the popular series of outdoor screenings in the summer.
Tickets for Pop Up Screens Christmas range from just £5 or £10 for kids and OAPs up to £16 for full price adult tickets, and you can buy tickets online at www.popupscreens.co.uk – there’s also much more information about the screenings and how they work.
